Hi Drew,
I ribbed you a bit about transforming my bike – well you weren’t wrong!
I went for a 20k ride (200m climbing) on Friday which usually takes me 55 mins to complete in a moderate headwind. I done it in 49 mins. Done the same route Saturday with a slightly stronger headwind, done it in 50 mins. C.10% quicker time. There was still a bit of neck pain but significantly less than usual and my legs still felt fresh afterwards.
I set up my indoor bike with as close a configuration to my road bike as I could. Done a one hour hill climb and completed it feeling much fresher at the end. Creating space to use my legs fully has indeed transformed both of my bikes. Still relatively early days but the signs are extremely encouraging – I’ll get to that 3 hour ride we spoke about 😀
