Hi Drew,

Wee bit feedback for you.

Bike feels good in new position, and I’m quite taken aback by difference aero bars made once I settled into them.

Chapped out 54 miles in 3 hrs 10 mins on a fairly lumpy route over Braes at Thornhill and Dukes Pass, averaging 17mph in a stiff north easterly breeze from the turn home, which is really good for me. Nailed section between Aberfoyle and Stirling averaging 18.5 mph into that breeze (unheard of for me) in the aero position taking the odd break onto the hoods on wee climbs/pulls, but naturally wanted to get onto aero bars the minute I hit the flat. Took a wee bit psychologically to get used to wee bit extra weight on front on the Dukes climb proper, but clawed back anything lost on my mate on way down in aero position on way down prior to tight bends where it was back in loops/hoods.

Fit felt good on legs and back, no saddle issues, no sliding forward and feel a solid connection all the way around the crank in a compact position as opposed to stretching from high seat which was clearly part of the problem. No hamstring, quad or other issues and felt fresh when I finished. Clear impact on effort requirement as spent considerably less time in Zone 5 but with improved overall speed.

Cleat position feels good with solid connection on pedal and enjoying that they are further back which appears to me making a difference on both down and up strokes through the pedal.

I’m actually quite excited about difference new set up has made, borne by length of time I had to wait for my mate at a couple of points.

I’ll be heading out tomorrow on my regular short route, which is pretty flat and gives me an idea of where I am fitness wise, and this’ll give me a solid indicator of what the aero bars are giving me in time and effort.

Cracking engagement, service overall Drew, very pleased mate.

Thank you

Johnny
